Miu Miu Literary Club hosted “Sibilla Aleramo: Our Brilliant Sisters”, a panel discussion about Aleramo’s “A Woman”, first published in 1906 and considered Italy’s first feminist novel, an intimate, personal memoir as well as a passionate discussion on motherhood, marriage and freedom. The conversation has been introduced by Bel Powley, and it featured panelists Selby Wynn Schwartz (finalist for the Lambda Literary Award in LGBTQ Nonfiction and long-listed for the Booker prize), Viola Di Grado (Italian writer and 2011 Campiello Opera Prima winner) and Xiaolu Guo (novelist, memorist and film-maker – National Book Critics Circle Award 2017), moderated by author, presenter and journalist Zing Tsjeng.
A dialogue discussing the role of love in women’s empowered lives, the impact of female friendship and the legacy of past women writers.
Curated by Italian writer and researcher Olga Campofreda.
