The 2024 CHANEL Next Prize winner Oona Doherty (born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, based in Marseille, France) is a choreographer working at the forefront of contemporary dance.
Doherty’s work has been performed globally for over a decade. Doherty made her Sadler’s Wells stage debut with Navy Blue (2022). The performance’s precursor, titled Hope Hunt and the Ascension into Lazarus, was included as part of BBC Arts’ Dancing Nation series.
She was awarded the Silver Lion Award at the 2021 edition of the Biennale Danza in Venice. In 2023, she was the guest Artistic Director of the National Youth Dance Company in London.
She is currently an associate artist at the Pavilion Noir’s Ballet Preljocaj in Aix-en-Provence, France.
