Alex Quicho: Prey Mode
Alex Quicho is a theorist, artist, and research director working across writing, video and live performance. Her practice explores narrative and subjectivity in the post-platform age, focusing on the unbreakable bonds between Girls and Gore, pleasure and violence, delusion and reality, over- and under-developed worlds.
Alex has presented works internationally, including: Transmediale (Berlin), Creamcake (Berlin), Fondation Fiminco (Paris), Espace Niemeyer (Paris), Soft Power (Berlin), Stanley Picker (London), and Somerset House (London). Her nonfiction appears in Wired, Dazed, The White Review, The New Inquiry, Real Life, Flash Art, Cura, Bookforum, Art Review, Vogue, Vice, Adult, C, and elsewhere.
Alex has also produced texts and talks for institutions including Singapore Art Museum, Power Station of Art (Shanghai), Julia Stoschek Collection (Berlin), Rennie Museum (Vancouver), Nationalgalerie (Berlin); and collaborated on film scripts for artists including Elizabeth Gabrielle Lee and Anna Engelhardt. Small Gods, her short volume on the drone epoch, was published by Zero Books (2021). Weakling, a novel on hot girls as adversarial infrastructure, is in development.
