Award Winning International Fashion Designer Ia Faraoni is best known as the prolific force behind Ia’s Threads, a brand known mainly for their exotic, stylish and eco-friendly bags.
Ia was born and raised in the Philippines. Fashion has always been an important part of her life growing up, helping her parents in the family fashion store. She aims to break the cycle of poverty and at the same time, connect cultural differences through fashion. That led her to pursue her passion for fashion while aspiring to make a difference in people’s lives through fashion and design.
With a mission to lead a revolutionary change for people and planet through ethical and sustainable fashion, she combined her leadership experience that she gleaned from when she was elected at age 18 as the youngest municipal council member at a local government unit, together with her degree in business and love for fashion by launching Ia’s Threads sustainable luxury handmade bags in 2017. These Sustainable Luxury Handbags and Minaudière are intricately handwoven from natural Buri plant fibers produced from exotic provinces in the Philippines and create variety of jobs and income to many communities and families of weavers. Her mission is not only to provide rare style and everyday elegance that will make women feel empowered and confident with how they look but also to highlight environmental awareness and sustainability. Each handmade piece is designed and handcrafted to a standard of perfection to sprinkle hints of the exotic and bring out a woman’s inner beauty with infusions of love, fun, and adventure.
Ia debuted her first designed dress collection, the "Dalaga Collection" in New York Fashion Week September 2018 Fashion Show. These Zero-Waste Fashion Dresses are made from post consumer textiles. Each look in the collection has been constructed from waste trimmings, waste fabrics, and unwanted hats and textiles from local businesses. Ia's "Hold Me Now" Clutches and Minaudière was also featured in New York Fashion Week September 2018 and at Paris Fashion Week Fashion Show in Paris, France October 2018 where she received an award as "Best International Fashion Designer Fall 2018" by CMG.
Her aim for every piece she designs is to sprinkle hints of the exotic and bring out a woman’s inner beauty with infusions of love, fun, and adventure- to become a staple in every woman's closet.
