ABOUT JES
If you’re reading this, thank you. That is all.
I currently live in New York where I pursue my acting career with a fiery passion. In 2013 I landed a recurring role as an inmate on the successful Netflix series, ‘Orange is the New Black.’
My love of film came at an early age but I didn’t pursue acting with a serious passion until I was in high school. While in school I attended theatre courses and auditioned for the school's productions. My love of performing carried over to my college years where I continued with courses in theatre and film. I was also cast in original theatre pieces produced by the school, as well as the classic ‘Romeo+Juliet.’ In addition to my theatre work I also auditioned for independent short and feature films.
My first staring role came at age 19 in a film called, ‘The Virgin of The Candles’ (2009) written and directed by Victoria Giordana, I played “Dayo” a slave who escapes to a Spanish mission where she becomes involved in an emotional triangle between two priests.
After that project I landed a small part in the independent feature ‘Brother Liar John’ (2010) as the seductive ex-girlfiend.
From there, I decided to pursue acting in New York City. In 2012 I moved to New York and auditioned for NYU’s Drama School, Tisch. I was not accepted but despite the rejection I continued to pursue the career I wanted; appearing in theatre, independent and short films, such as ‘Jefftown’ and ’Taste’.
ABOUT THE ART
JES DAV is a brand inspired by my personal style, which is heavily influenced by punk, grunge and alternative cultures. I grew up listening to these genres and am a self proclaimed punk. The definition is always changing, just as the clothes have, but I'd like to think the feeling has remained the same. You can be a punk and not know who Joey Ramone is. All you need is the feeling.
ART by JES DAV
My art has always been a therapudic outlet. I started collaging in highschool
And hadn't really shared my work with anyone. Sharing my art was a kin to letting someone sit in on a therapy session. I've since accepted the vulnerability that comes with this part of myself.
I create things I want to see, things I wouldn't mind going back and just looking at. POP ART really spoke to me growing up. The contrast between the fun colors and dark content has always been a point of intrigue for me, so I explore it.
The collage work is a mix of different mediums: paint, magazine cutouts, rose petals, whatever I think might look good. This goes the same for the jackets and other clothing pieces. I want to feel good when I see and wear them, this is how all JESDAV pieces are be it art or clothing.
The JACKET
I make custom pieces. The jackets you see here are examples of the work and material I put in to the jacket. If you would like a jacket made similar to the jackets photographed I, can produce one for you. No two jackets will ever be the same as I do everything by hand.
