About Peter Reginato
A noted contemporary painter whose chosen medium is enamel on canvas, Peter was born in Texas, but grew up in California and studies at the San Francisco Art Institute from 1963-1966. His whimsical abstract forms employ a variety of textures and colors, grouping together painted, perforated, or folded metal shapes in a collage-like fashion. A veteran of more than 60 solo exhibitions and hundreds of group exhibitions in the U.S. and abroad, Reginato is best known for his abstract painted welded steel sculptures that possess an anthropomorphic feel and a distinct personality. His work is found in numerous prestigious private and public collections, including the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington D.C., and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. He lives and works in SoHo, and teaches at The Art Students League of New York.
