On location at the Sheltersuit social factory in the Netherlands, this shot film provides a glimpse into the makings of a meaningful collaboration. “ People helping people,” says founder Bas Timmer whose idea for a weather-resistant, multifunctional outerwear that combines a sleeping bag component is given away to homeless people.
Appearing for the first time on the Autumn-Winter 21 runway, the Sheltersuit & Chloé backpacks and jackets embody Chloé’s shift towards purpose-driven and lower-impact products. The main fabric is sourced from upcycled material; while the lining and leather is sourced from deadstock such as tent fabric and car seatbelts. As a social justice organisation, The Sheltersuit Foundation creates jobs — employing mostly Syrian refugees — and thanks to this collaboration, is able to protect 1000 people who are forced to sleep outside.
Notably, every backpack purchased funds two Sheltersuits, thus contributing to the organisation’s mission.
