Winter Film Awards showcases the work of emerging filmmakers in all genres from around the world. We are proudly in the TOP 10 BEST REVIEWED FESTIVALS on FilmFreeway! Hollywood continues to ignore women and people of color, but Winter Film Awards celebrates everyone! “I think that when everybody’s story is told, then that makes for better art, that makes for better entertainment. It makes everybody feel part of one family.”
Our program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council. Winter Film Awards is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
We host four events each year … in addition to our annual Indie Film Festival each February, we host an annual 48-Hour Film Challenge, a Comedy Competition and a Music Video Challenge. This allows us to support both local and international artists looking to gain the experience, recognition and contacts needed to break into the tough entertainment industry. We provide educational opportunities and, via partnerships with Indiepix, Distribbr and others, we help to attain distribution for their work.
Filmmakers who attend our events enjoy fabulous parties, NYC tours and the opportunity to meet and learn from other artists — an experience that comes from a premier showcase dedicated to emerging artists. Winter Film Awards is renowned for the quality and variety of the work we screen, and aim to welcome our filmmakers and attendees with an open environment where they feel inspired about their craft.
Like many of the great film Festivals across the country and the world, WFA seeks to bring our audience compelling and unique content that inspires the viewers and honors the filmmakers. There are hundreds of film festivals in New York City; what makes us different is our intense focus on the variety of our films and helping new filmmakers reach what may be their first real audience.
