The New Cotton Project is the world first in the fashion industry, an EU funded project proving that circular fashion can be a reality. We are joined by three of the twelve stakeholders of the project: Kirsi Niinimaki, Paula Sarsama and Traci Kinden, who have been investigating the feasibility of an entirely circular model for commercial garment production. The fashion industry produces nearly twice as many clothes today as it did 20 years ago. If the industry doesn’t change then it’s predicted that by 2050 fashion will use up a ¼ of the world’s carbon budget. The New Cotton Project is an EU funded project proving that circular fashion can be a reality. This is an update on the progress of the project, a year on from when we first met with the team.
