In May 2023, the high-quality skills, and traditional Malaysian woven textiles, were introduced as part of London Craft Week. The exhibition, which documented this traditional fabric, was conceived, curated and presented in collaboration with Queen Azizah of Malaysia and Professor Judith Clark at the Malaysian High Commission. The exhibition was an impressive showcase of the 700-year-old traditional weaving craft, with Her Majesty the Queen, championing its revival and bringing the beauty of this luxury textile, (woven by prisoners) to the world.
MA students were challenged to work on a brief to tell the narrative of the Tenun Pahang textile project and to design commercial high-quality fashionable clothing which would attract a new global clientele.
